Fight Tooth Decay with Chewing Gum

Tooth Decay (cavities) is caused by bacteria (germs) that produce acid which dissolves the minerals in teeth.  Xylitol (an additive to specific chewing gum and other products) has been shown to interrupt the progress of tooth decay at every stage of its development.  Xylitol reduces the transmission of theses germs, interfers with the conversion of sugars to acid, and aids in the remineralization (reversal) of the cavitiy process.  Combining flouride-calcium-prosphate toothpaste, xylitol chewing gum and chlorohexidine rinses can be of significan cavity fighting value.
